Landscape Tips & Facts

Lawn Aeration...

Aeration opens up otherwise compacted soil; allowing for oxygen and nutrients to enter, and is vital for healthy and deep rooted grass!

Not sure what grass type is good for your lawn...

The two most common types of grass for the Missouri region is Kentucky Bluegrass, and Fescue.  Kentucky Bluegrass is known for its rich dark color, however; it is not tolerant to the type of heat and humidity we receive. Fescue (Tall Fescue)  is known for its fine but thick grass blade, and is able to withstand the heat. This would apply to both seed and sod!

Healthy, thick, and lasting lawn...

Adding ryegrass seed to your established lawn, or in with your seed application, provides deeper rooted grass.

Increase the value of your home by 110%...

Curb appeal goes a long way... Whether you are thinking of selling your home, have your home on the market, or just want a clean, crisp look, consider adding to or installing landscaping!

Simple tips to save time, energy, and your lawn…

  • Remove thatch buildup (dead grass)

  • Aerate your lawn (spring or fall, but we prefer fall)

  • Don’t bag your grass clippings, let them fall back onto your lawn and into the soil! Clippings provides key nutrients for your existing grass and soil!

A sharp blade, and a mowing height of 3”-4” will help retain more water in your soil, and protect your lawn during the prolonged heat!
Dig wider, rather than deeper! This rule of thumb goes for trees and shrubs!
Dress up the area around trees, but remember not to place mulch against the trunk of any tree!
More water isn’t necessarily better…. Depending on your grass, soil, and the temperature, infrequent but longer applications provides the best results!  Early morning is the best time, well before the direct sunlight and heat set in!
